Having an open hand means that what is placed in the hand comes from someone else...namely God. God can both take from the hand and place into the hand as He sees fit. All of our design comes from us praying for and asking God to give inspiration and direction. Having an open hand means that what is in the hand is not ours...and therefore we do not hold on to it too tightly. This includes our projects. We do not claim to own any of it, even when we easily could. We also want our partners to know how to edit the website themselves if they desire, saving them money and not locking them into dependency upon us. When we realize that life is meant to live open-handed, our life increases in joy. This is because no matter what is placed in our hand, no matter how valuable it is or creative it is, pales in comparison to Jesus Christ, the treasure of greatest worth!

God is the ultimate creative. When there was nothing, He spoke His Word into the void and the "art project" known as the universe came to be--from huge galaxies to microscopic cells and everything in between. (cf. Gen. 1-31, John 1:1-3). Being created in His image, mankind has inherited character traits from our loving Heavenly Father, one of which is creativity. What a great blessing it is to add form and function to given ideas. This is meant to be a God-glorifying process.
OpenHand Creative works in partnership with people. This partnership is personal and purposeful. Therefore, we only work with those we have direct relationship or those lead us to through referral of these relationships. OpenHand Creative cannot be sought after as regular for-hire design work. Doing this allows us to focus on people, building friendships, sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ, and giving a great end-product that benefits each unique situation. It is quality over quantity. It is mission over money. In fact, every dollar made goes directly to furthering the mission of the gospel.
